    As a Digital Art Director, you blend strategic, conceptual and visual storytelling skills with the ability to create awesome digital experiences. You have a core understanding of users, and you’re a maker and storyteller who brings digital experiences to life across various devices, products, and projects. As a designer, you’re both rational and innovative. You’re able to create diverse designs for a variety of clients while simultaneously collaborating with other team members to improve the overall work of the group.

     

    The Digital Art Director is responsible for conceptualization and design of digital experiences. He/she creates meets user and client needs through the creation and use of styles, brand systems, typography, photography, and color. He/she must speak to best practices and employ them in digital design. Developing systems and templates that reduce development time is also key to this job.

     

    At different parts of a project, you’ll collaborate with JPL’s content writers, data analysts, integrated communications teams, technical leads, developers, and UX designers to help define, design and build a brand’s visual user experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and oversee cutting edge creative work
    • Exhibit a master-level understanding of digital design, including typography and layout, user experiences for mobile, desktop, and experiential digital platforms
    • Manage design quality throughout all phases of a project
    • Present digital design systems and prototypes to clients in a compelling, easy-to-understand manner
    • Speak articulately and collaborate with digital marketing team members, content writers, and developers
    • Collaborate with UX Designers and clients to develop a deep understanding of customers’ behaviors and needs, and translate UX research findings into emotionally-engaging websites and apps
    • Mentor designers

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years’ experience designing for the web and mobile in an agency setting
    • Proficiency in Mac OSX, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
    • Must have a portfolio of successfully launched work that demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking
    • Knowledge of of HTML, CSS, responsive design, various frameworks and content management systems
    • Ability to translate insights into foundations for developing a strategic visual user experience
    • Experience building strategies and digital, visual guides
    • Excellent collaboration skills; experience working with clients and internal teams
    • Must be organized, work gracefully under pressure and switch between projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment
